Mardi Gras 2009.

We have been busy the last few days. Tuesday was Mardi Gras and true to the tradition we started last year, Carrie, Kati and I met downtown with our kids to watch parades and have a picnic in Bienville Square. Since last year we have grown. I was pregnant last year with the boys and this year Carrie and Kati both are pregnant. We had other friends and family join us also this year for the festivities. I hope we continue this tradition. The girls really enjoyed themselves.

Wednesday we drove to Dan and Anne's for a couple of days and were able to visit with Barbara and Steve. Savannah got to make smores with her Granne, Beckett practiced crawling, Greyson found his voice and boy is it loud! As for me I got that much needed sleep. Thank you Anne!

Sleep or lack of!

I love to sleep. Usually I can sleep just about anywhere and at anytime, but tonight it is taking me awhile to get sleepy, so it got me thinking about the other sleepers in our family.

Beckett was having the same issue today and so it's probably something we are sharing. He does not want to go to sleep EVER! He doesn't want to take a nap, he doesn't want to fall asleep with me rocking him, he doesn't want to fall asleep curled up to his daddy in our bed. I don't get it.

Greyson will usually fall asleep as soon as you put him in his crib with his pacifier in and his blanket covering his face. If his pacifier didn't come out of his mouth, he would probably not wake up at all during the night.

Savannah will fall asleep as soon as she gets still. But getting her to that point takes forever. I guess other 3.5 yr olds always need: something to drink, to pottie, to brush AND floss her teeth (I didn't know she knew how to floss), eat something because her tummy hurts, kiss and hug everybody, find her pink blanket not her yellow one but her pink one, oh the list goes on and on...

JD HAS to, cannot fall asleep with out it, read before he can go to sleep. I don't think there has ever been a night that I know of when he did not read before falling asleep. Once he is asleep it's hard to wake him, or get him to stop snoring. It is SSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO loud! He says I am loud too but since I can't hear me, I don't believe it's real.

With babies there has been alot of sleepless nights and early mornings. I am looking forward to that special Saturday morning when they get themselves up, fix a bowl of cereal and sit in front of the tv and are so into it that they don't bother us. Letting me sleep late. I want to sleep until noon or later. I want to lie in bed without worrying that I need to feed someone.

I am dreaming of the day I can sleep late, on a night that I can't go to sleep.
JD might be right, I might be crazy.

Getting Started.

Savannah 3 yrs old
Beckett 7 mths old
Greyson 7 mths old

Today Greyson sat unassisted for almost 2 minutes. I am so proud of him. Beckett wouldn't even sit for 2 seconds. They change everyday and you never know who is gonna do something before the other one. I can't even predict anymore what is going to happen.
Savannah has been her usual self today and has been diaper free for over a week now. Finally we have gotten to this point. She is getting so big and I feel like time is slipping away and if I blink I will miss something important.
Since JD and I are both going to be writing this blog you are going to get 2 VERY different viewpoints. We decided to do this because our family lives in so many places. I just wish we had started this earlier, way earlier. We could start telling from the beginning but what is the beginning? I don't think I have time to write about every detail from the past 8 yrs or so that we have been together.
